Für manche ist es einfach ein Ding der Unmöglichkeit pünktlich zu sein, unabhängig davon wohin sie müssen und wie weit sie es haben. Sie kommen immer 10 Minuten zu spät und sind immer in Eile. Nach Meinung von Linda Sepading, Psychologin und Autorin des Buches „Überwinden Sie Ihre Ängste“, sind die Auswirkungen der chronischen Unpünktlichkeit viel ernster zu nehmen: „Sie schaden Ihrer Reputation. Ihre Umgebung bekommt dadurch das Gefühl, dass sie Ihnen nicht mehr vertrauen kann, sich nicht auf Sie verlassen kann. Das beeinflusst Ihre Beziehungen – und auch Ihr Selbstvertrauen.“

Um pünktlich zu sein, müssen Sie zuerst herausfinden, warum Sie ständig zu spät sind. Die Gründe hierfür können technischen oder psychologischen Ursprunges sein.

Ist die Zeitspanne Ihrer Unpünktlichkeit unterschiedlich – sind es manchmal nur 6 Minuten und manchmal eine halbe Stunde, dann hat das technische Gründe. Das bedeutet, dass Sie die für eine bestimmte Aktion benötigte Zeit nicht abschätzen können (zum Beispiel die Autofahrt, oder sich schminken oder Ähnliches). Dieses Problem können Sie einfach lösen, in dem Sie sich eine oder zwei Wochen lang beobachten und so herausfinden wie viel Zeit Sie wofür benötigen. Rechnen Sie für jede Aktivität zusätzlich noch ein paar Minuten mit ein.

Beträgt Ihre Zeitspanne des Zuspätkommens konstant 10 Minuten, dann hat das psychologische Gründe. Das bedeutet, dass Sie im Grunde genommen Ihr Erscheinen bzw. die Zeit wann Sie erscheinen selber bestimmen. Dr. Sapadin erklärt: „Manche verbinden Ihre Unpünktlichkeit mit Auflehnung oder Härte. Gehen Sie rechtzeitig aus der Wohnung. Viele müssen noch in der letzten Sekunde etwas erledigen, dies ist aber einer der größten Verursacher der Unpünktlichkeit. Wenn Sie also pünktlich sein wollen, aber noch etwas erledigen möchten, so lassen Sie es. Nehmen Sie einfach Ihre Handtasche und verlassen Sie Ihre Wohnung.

Versuchen Sie die Pünktlichkeit in Ihre Zeitwahrnehmung zu integrieren. Sie werden niemals pünktlich sein, wenn Sie mit der Zeit nicht umgehen können.
